The primary aim of AS and A Level Computer Science syllabus is to assist students to have a knowledge of the fundamental ideas in computer science and how various types of computer programs operate.
To create computer-based solutions, students will employ problem-solving techniques and computational thinking as they advance in the course. They will do this by using algorithms and programming languages.

Structure of AS/A Level Computer Science
Candidates for the AS Level complete Papers 1 and 2. Candidates for the A Level take all four exams. All of the four papers are discussed below:
Paper 1: Theory Fundamentals
It is a 75-mark written paper in which candidates are required to answer all questions.

- A Level: 25%
Paper 2: Fundamental Problem-Solving & Programming Skills
It is also a 75-mark paper in which candidates are required to write answers in pseudocode.
- AS Level: 50%
- A Level: 25%
Paper 3: Advanced Theory
It is a 75-mark paper that is externally assessed.
- A Level: 25%
Paper 4: Advanced Practical
It is a 75-mark paper in which candidates are required to submit a complete program code and evidence of testing. They will either use Java, Python, or VB.NET programming languages.
