What happened in the past affects our present! – Well, this is why students are required to study history. IB being an international educational framework requires its students to become aware of the major historical events and thus needs its students to study History at the DP stage.
The DP history syllabus gives lot of importance on development of international-mindedness among its learners.
The DP history is a world history which mainly emphasizes on comparision and different perspective ways to understand the historical instances . The syllabus mainly includes the political, economic, social and cultural stituations at different time period.
Litera Centre also wants the students to appreciate History and understand it conceptually. For this reason, we organize and deliver IBDP history Tuition Classes for our students.
Importance of IBDP History
History makes people smart. Indeed, a student who is aware of the past is better at decision-making and tends to succeed in life. Below are some major goals of IB, that it wants to achieve while teaching History at the DP stage:
- To let the students develop a keen interest in the past and analyze it so as to develop multiple perspectives
- To broaden the understanding by letting the students know about the history and traditions of the several regions spread across the world
- To grow a sense of historical chronology by understanding contemporary societies
- To develop historical consciousness and related skills
Structure of IBDP History
In IB, at the DP stage, students are required to study History at two different levels, which are the Higher Level and the Lower Level.
At both these levels, students are assessed via two different types of assessments
At Higher level
- Time -240 Hours
- External Assessment -80%
- Internal Assessment -20%
At Standard Level
- Time -150 Hours
- External Assessment -80%
- Internal Assessment -20%
