IGCSE Languages
Cambridge IGCSE is an international qualification. It is recognized by the world’s best universities and employers. The curriculum is designed in such a way that it develops curiosity and a lasting passion for learning among students.
Cambridge IGCSE comprises 30 different languages, which can be divided into three parts (explained in detail later). These are:

Importance of IGCSE Languages
The curriculum of IGCSE Languages helps the students to fluently read and recite a wide variety of texts. They acquire language skills by understanding the structure of Grammar and related vocabulary.
After studying the IGCSE Languages, students can critically analyze and improve their writing, speaking, and reading skills.
- IGCSE Language students develop skills of evaluation, analysis, and inference
- They learn grammar and its structures
- They gain insight into target language countries and associated communities
Structure of IGCSE Languages
All the students of IGCSE Languages are required to take four different papers. These are:
- Paper 1: Listening
- Paper 2: Reading
- Paper 3: Speaking
- Paper 4: Writing
All these papers share a common weightage of 25%. The different languages covered by the IGCSE are:
- Foreign languages: French, German, Greek, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, Arabic, Dutch, Indonesian, Japanese, Malay, Portuguese, and Italian
- Second languages: English, Hindi, Afrikaans, Chinese, English, IsiZulu, and Urdu
- First languages: English, Afrikaans, Arabic, Chinese, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Thai, and Turkish
The Grading Rules
Some important points related to “IGCSE Grading”:
- The Cambridge IGCSE assigns Grades to its students that range from “A – The Highest” to “G – The Lowest”
- If the performance of a student is not enough to even assign him or her a grade of "G", then such students are “Ungraded”, which is reported on the statement of results
- The letter “Q" appearing on the statement of results - stands for PENDING
- The letter “X" appearing on the statement of results - stands for NO RESULT
